We need to talk about white supremacy and the alt-right

The alt-right is dangerous and racist. If you ignore the alt-right, it will continue to grow, and it has the potential to disrupt society. The alt-right has no special talent to manage information and hate; it is a covert manipulation of public perceptions.
Now, I’ve said the words, but there is more. I’ve tried to just paste the first few paragraphs of the Alt Right site, but it’s been linked around so much, I don’t know if I can insert it here. I think that there are important things we need to know about the alt-right.
The Alt-right is the largest movement of people on the internet that have the potential to impact the world politically.

Alt-right movements are not unconnected. They might have their own strong “histories” in each country, and they might be small, but they are something else. They are not homogeneous, and they do not operate under similar norms.

Here’s what a lot of people don’t realize about alt-right movements. They don’t exist to march on your city or town, bash the state into submission, and then go home. They exist because the subject they’re talking about is poorly understood by the wider culture. The people who matter are those who have a personal interest in the matter. They are just like you, they just happen to have similar ideas and new tools to help them communicate. Alt-right thinkers and activists are very active participants in the culture, which is why we must seize back the culture.
